The day I first met Timothy was the same day he met his beautiful and energetic daughter Peyton for the first time. It was a rainy cold day at Cherry Point Marine Base. He came home from war after spending 7 months in Afghanistan to hold his daughter for the first time. It was amazing, definatly a moment I will never forget.
Flash-forward, two weeks ago we got together on a stormy weekend morning at a beautiful park in Jacksonville NC to capture their first family portrait session! It is amazing to see how much Peyton has bonded with Timothy. Daddy and Daughter are inseparable, and that is a beautiful thing! We hung out and it was so amazing seeing this family together. I really have no idea how any Marine family does it. I don’t know how they deal with the difficult deployments, the weeks of separation during training and so on, but it is amazing to see them make the most of the times that they are together. I can’t tell you how stoked I was to work with them again and capture their family portraits.
I know Kim must still be a little sad over Kansas losing the NCAA Basketball National Championship game to Kentucky, but hopefully these images will pull her out of the funk!
Also, A special thanks to my new friend Mallory for assisting me during this shoot! It is hard to do what I do without having awesome people assisting, and Mallory, an up and coming Jacksonville NC Photographer is about to bust out and make her mark in Jacksonville. It was an honor having her help me out!
