Raleigh Wedding Photographer | Jenny Goodwin Bridal Portraits | JC Raulston Arboretum

Now that Jenny is married I can finally show off her amazing bridal portraits we shot at the JC Raulston Arboretum near the NC State University Campus in Raleigh.  Jenny looks amazing and it has been beyond difficult not to show these images off before her wedding.

The day started off with a major road block… RAIN. Fortunately, the sun came out an hour before the bridal shoot and with the help of a bed sheet and a shower curtain we were able to walk around the gardens and keep her dress from getting messed up.

It was a major help having Jenny’s mom, soon to be (but NOW) mother-in-law, and her sister in law there to help.  I also want to give a special thanks to my best buddy Amanda Rutter for taking the time to be my human flash stand.  It took a small army, but this bridal shoot was perfect, and I am sure Jenny will cherish these images for the rest of her life.

Doesn’t she look amazing!!!

Luray VA Wedding Photographer | Chad and Jessi | Mimslyn Inn

My cousin Jessi is one of the most beautiful people I have ever met, both inside and out. She has always looked out for the little guy, and has unselfishly put others interested before hers. I remember back to when she was born and as she grew older, she has always had a contagious joy that infects those around her. Her smile, her laughter it is amazing.

As she has grown up I have noticed so many similarities to one of my most favorite lady in the world, my mom. It is overwhelming thinking about how much they are a like. And that is why I am having such a hard time posting this wedding. Every time I think about how beautiful Jessi was on her wedding day, and how proud I am of her.. I just think about my mom and what she would say to Jessi and Chad.

Jessi and Chad, Mom would be, no.. she IS so proud of you. She would wish you a million days of happiness, and the most beautiful sunrises and vibrant sunsets to start and end your day. She would encourage you to live every day counting your blessings, making the most, remembering that so many people wish they had a life as blessed as yours. She would give you the biggest hug and with a smile tell you that she loves you and is so proud of you!

And Jessi, I know she is. And I am too! Our entire family is! Chad is an amazing guy, and I could not imagine a more perfect fit for your prince charming.

It was such an honor to document your Luray VA wedding. And the Mimslyn Inn was a perfect setting for your wedding reception. It was the perfect day! And I hope you enjoy these images!

Greenville NC Wedding Photographer | Riley and Camrin | Military Wedding

Sometimes in life we go down different roads. Sometimes the journey may be long, but in the end your heart will always lead you back to the right AND PERFECT path!

Riley and Camrin were high school sweethearts. More than that, they have always been best friends. Separated by hundreds of miles when Camrin decided to go to East Carolina University and by oceans when the Marine Corps transferred Riley to Okinawa their relationship faded over time. But friendship only grew stronger. And as time passed they realized that life just sucked without the other. And they started talking more seriously. A few months ago Riley proposed and they decided to get married before he deploys in the next month or two.

He made the long trip from Okinawa to Greenville NC to marry his best friend. It was a hot day, but it was made perfect by Camrin’s crazy theater friends, and the fact that as soon as the photo shoot was over, they would be going to the justice of the peace to make their life commitment to each other official!

It was such an honor to work with Riley and Camerin, as well as her friends. Bret (a member of the Bridal Party) was the first Bridesman I have ever had the pleasure of shooting, and I have never laughed as hard as I did watching them do the ‘Wizard of Oz’ “We’re off to see the wizard” walk. So funny, but priceless images!

I hope you enjoy these fun wedding images from Riley and Camrin’s wedding day!

Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores Wedding | Chris and Amber | Wedding Photographer

This was most definitely a wedding I will never forget!

Last fall when I was checking my gmail inbox I came across an amazing email. Amber was asking if I had ever shot a wedding at the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores. My answer was NO, but my excitement was through the roof. I knew this would be a wedding I would GLADLY do whatever it took to get.

After a few emails back and forth, we set up a time to meet at one of the yogurt shops in Greenville NC. It almost felt as if we instantly clicked. Chris is a fellow artist, he loves to draw. He SHOULD try his hand at a career in art, but then again, if he had done that he would have never met Amber. He was working in his home town of New Jersey, and a security job came open at a lab in Greenville NC. He transferred, and that is when he met Amber.

Amber was born and raised on the Crystal Coast. She is the essence of the saying “You can take her out of the beach, but you can’t take the beach out of her.” She is so laid back and chill! But more than that, she is a super smart lab tech.

After dating for a few years, they had their beautiful daughter Isabella and then it came time to plan the wedding of their dreams at the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

After shooting their engagement portraits at the Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores I was so excited about documenting their wedding. And then the bomb. Looking on facebook I noticed Amber asking for prayer for her father. He was not doing very well. A few weeks later she informed me that he passed away. My heart broke for her. I knew they were close and on her wedding day, my thoughts were with the entire family, and I could tell he was greatly missed.

The day started out with a rush to get everything and everyone in place. And it was perfect. They rented out the entire aquarium, the kids could run around and look at all the tanks. The touch tanks were open, and I even saw adults touching the fish and crabs.

More than that, what better backdrop to a dance-floor than the SHARK TANK? It was perfect. And DJ FOX of BTA Entertainment kept the party rocking all night long. (If you are getting married and don’t have BTA Entertainment as your DJ, you are missing out! The mix, the fun, the energy… he isn’t just a DJ, he creates experiences you will never forget.  Those people who refuse to dance… he finds a way to make them the life of the party. In other words… Get BTA Entertainment, and your reception is going to ROCK!) I have rarely seen so many people on the dance-floor rocking out all night long! It was super fun, super hot, and very sweaty. But one of the most amazing and scenic receptions I have ever documented!

Although I could keep writing forever, I guess I should be quiet now and let you enjoy these images. As the saying goes “Less Talk, More Rock!”

Swansboro NC Wedding Photographer | Jerry and Jenni are Married

It was a magical day. The weather was a perfect blend of sun and temperature. Everything was coming together perfectly, and in just a few hours Jenni would merry her best friend.

Jerry and Jenni met in high school. From their first date they knew this was different than most high school relationships. Jenni wrote a diary entry that she read during the ceremony that sounded as if she had just written it as her vows. Everyone at their wedding gasped when she said that she wrote that when they had first met. It is obvious that these two are together because God brought them together, and for no other reason.

When planning their wedding day, no location was better than her parents house located on Queens Creek in Swansboro NC. This river house was the perfect setting for the best day of their lives! The decorations and scenery were breathtaking, and friends and family made for a celebration that I will never forget.

The day was full of laughs and giggles until her dad gave his toast. Then it erupted in laughs as he went through the expenses of raising a daughter, paying for her sports and college, and then telling Jerry, her expenses are yours now!!! But then got emotional when he told Jenni that her late Grandmother would be so proud of her. As he said that, a light sprinkle fell from the sky almost as if it was confirmation that everything he was saying was true. It is obvious how much Jenni’s grandmother meant to her when I looked into her eyes as he spoke. They filled with tears. With her grandmothers memory in her heart she carried on the rest of the fun filled reception.

Jerry and Jenni are two of the kindest, giving, and loving people I have ever met. It was an unbelievable honor to travel to Swansboro NC to document their wedding photography. I hope you enjoy these images!
